What types of flotation clothing are there?

There are several types of floating clothing to choose from, all aimed for different environments and situations all designed by different brands. The main items of flotation clothing we offer at Crew Safe, you can choose from a buoyancy gilet, immersion suit or a flotation suit.

What is a flotation suit?

A flotation suit is different to a wetsuit. A flotation suit is a much bulkier garment of clothing aimed to keep personnel afloat in the water in case of emergency. A flotation suit is designed to be waterproof and windproof to keep you warm for as long as possible whilst awaiting rescue, and they come with several pockets inside and outside to help with storage of items.

Are flotation suits for adults only?

No, flotation suits come in varying sizes for children of all ages and sizes as well as adults. When purchasing a flotation suit, make sure you get the correct size or weight to ensure your safety when on the water.

What is the difference between an immersion suit and a flotation suit?

A flotation suit is a device to keep you safe when working on a ship, it will be waterproof and windproof therefore protecting you from all of the extreme weather elements and keep you afloat in water if you were to fall in. An immersion suit will provide you with protection vs extreme low temperatures, the suit covers all of your body except your face and will allow you to stay alive in cold seas if you were to fall in, to aid with rescue.
